Monotypes
The monotype is believed to have originated in 1635 with
the Italian painter Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione. Chestee
produces these unique prints in the same way he did:
painting directly onto a smooth plate, then transferring the
wet image onto paper.
“The success of the process requires planning ahead,
precise execution and intense speed,” says Chestee.
